SENIOR GEOPHYSICIST

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Geophysicist to join GPCI. 

Position Summary

As a Senior Geophysicist you will support technical management decision making on exploration, appraisal, field development through robust technical evaluations and reporting. In particular, the senior geophysicist enables the company to make qualitative and quantitative assessments of the geometry and volumes of hydrocarbon occurrences in the subsurface.

Key Tasks

  • Participate in integrated, multi-disciplinary teams in evaluating subsurface opportunities in Middle East and Western Africa
  • Structural Interpreter
  • Seismic Facies Analyst
  • If and when required, make recommendations for seismic acquisition, processing and re-processing
  • Assist ongoing geophysical activities and operations
  • Identify potential drilling candidates from the prospect inventory and support their maturation for drilling
  • If and when required, support peers in Middle East
  • Support drilling activities by providing subsurface targets, objectives and any other information required for the safe and efficient drilling of exploration, appraisal and development wells
  • Document all technical work done and help maintain corporate databases and record archives
  • If and when required, represent the company in meetings with external parties such as national authorities, regulatory bodies, contractors, and partners.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

  • More than 10 years of relevant experience of the upstream cycle from frontier exploration through field appraisal to development, production and abandonment/decommissioning
  • At least an MSc/MEng degree in geophysics or a related geoscience obtained from a reputable university
  • Proven track record of technical excellence and achievement in evaluation and securing best value from technical opportunities
  • Experience with Middle East
  • Experience with geothermal projects
  • Current knowledge of standard interpretation, mapping and geo-modelling applications, such as Petrel, Kingdom, Petrosys.

SENIOR PETROPHYSICIST

We are currently seeking a full-time Senior Petrophysicist to join GPCI.

Position Summary

To provide high-quality petrophysical support to our petrophysical team. You will also be required to assist with new business development activities, functional initiatives, training and managing external technical work carried out by specialist consultancies. 

Key Tasks

  • Significant knowledge of logging and core analysis techniques appropriate for unconventional and conventional reservoir analysis is required
  • Experience in designing data acquisition programs and later evaluation and integration – including open hole logging, LWD/MWD, coring, hydrocarbon sampling. High level knowledge of basic and advanced logging techniques, including NMR, ECS, dipole sonic, etc.
  • Reservoir Petrophysics quantitative reservoir description in complex lithologies, characterize conventional & unconventional resources, and develop/improve techniques for formation evaluation from cores and cuttings; and geo-mechanical modelling – log-derived mechanical properties, formation testing, and core measurements
  • Borehole imagery processing and interpretation
  • Carbonate and Fractured carbonate strong knowledge
  • Seismic petrophysics

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

  • Bachelor degree in science or engineering is required. MSc/PhD is desirable
  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills is required
  • Current and up-to-date software knowledge (Geolog Paradigm)
  • Proven ability to function effectively in multidisciplinary teams, within matrix organization
  • Ability to perform analysis, interpretation and problem solving at all levels of complexity with varying volumes of data
  • Ability to work in a geographically dispersed virtual team is required. This includes the need for regular inter-continental travel
  • Understanding of the importance of team spirit, GPCI/GGE/SGE group values and its working policies is required

JR. ADMIN. ASSISTANT

We are seeking a part/ full time (80%-100%) Administrative Assistant to join GPCI.

Position Summary

You will support the Office Manager at all administrative and operational levels.The ideal candidate should have high awareness for practical outputs, be open-minded, innovative and team-worker.

Key Tasks

  • Managing central services: calls, reception, mail, maintenance and upkeep/tidiness of the office, kitchen and meeting rooms, etc;
  • Organizing business travel logistics (flights, transfers, hotel accommodation, visa applications, expense reports);
  • Ensuring adequate stock of stationery, kitchen and other office supplies;
  • Organizing the office layout, acting as a « go to person » for all office needs;
  • Liaise with the Régie, facility management vendors and maintenance team as needed;
  • General administrative tasks.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

  • 1-2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Bilingual with good written and spoken English and French, additional language is a plus;
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

TECHNICAL ASSISTANT

We are currently seeking a full-time Technical assistant for a 6-months internship at GPCI.

Position Summary

The Technical Assistant/Jr. Geologist/Petrophysicist role is primarily associated with the management and maintenance of petrophysical, geophysical & engineering data. Tasks will include, but are not limited to, data management, report generation, presentation preparation and the consolidation of information into concise reports for the technical board.

Key Tasks

  • Provide data management support to the technical team
  • Input data into databases and spreadsheets
  • Manipulation of data to enable ad-hoc reports to be generated in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Kingdom and ArgGis
  • Assist with administration & tracking of service requisitions
  • Compile monthly technical team reports
  • Manage IT interface
  • Assist with the administration of documents on network drive & documentum
  • Organise operations group workshops and meetings as defined
  • Editing, splicing and merging of petrophysical logs for Composite Logs preparation

Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

  • Bachelor degree in science or engineering is required
  • Advanced Microsoft Office is required (excellent Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills).
  • Document management experience is desirable
  • Technical background is essential, as is a basic understanding of the hydrocarbon industry
  • Strong numerical and literacy skills
  • Systematic and methodical approach
  • Good teamwork and communication skill (verbal and written).
  • Fluent English, French, German is a plus
